About the Project
and Why it matters
The Hongera Afforestation Project, is an endeavor dedicated to the communities thriving in the scenic landscapes of Mt. Kenya and Aberdare regions. We’re on a mission to plant 3 million trees across these cherished landscapes, working hand in hand with small and medium-scale farmers.
Agroforestry plays a pivotal role in our environment. Trees, as integral components of agroforestry systems, play a crucial part in carbon sequestration, mitigating the impact of climate change, and safeguarding the ozone layer. These benefits are felt not only at the micro level, where they enhance local conditions like improving coffee quality, but also on a macro scale, contributing to global climate change mitigation efforts.

Our Mission
Community Benefits
Our project is not just about trees; it’s about community well-being. We’ve incorporated a built-in community benefit component, where funds are directed toward initiating or sustaining “community good” projects. These projects will encompass vital initiatives such as the development of water infrastructure, the provision of essential equipment for local dispensaries, and the facilitation of scholarships for deserving, underprivileged students..
